The world’s largest building, founded on Vogel pumps...

08/09/2008

Pumping water around the world’s largest building would never be a small task, but Vogel is proving up to the job.

Application: Municipal water supply

The development of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project in Makkah in Saudi Arabia (Mecca) has been an ambitious project.
It is considered to be the largest architectural project in the world, built with the purpose of raising revenue to finance maintenance and enhancement of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophets Mosque in Medinah.
There will be six 36-storey towers built on a 12-storey
podium, with one main 73-storey hotel that will take its place among the world’s tallest towers.
The pumping capacities required to feed water to the buildings are large, and the building contractor, Saudi Binladin Group in Jeddah, approached ITT Vogel in Europe.
